What a way to wrap up the year.

Christmas at Soul Rebel was everything we love about this place! Sweaty sessions, pumping classes, laughs between sets & that awesome festive energy that reminds us why we do this together. Whether you trained every spare moment or leaned into a well-earned break, we hope you soaked it up.

& yes… January is a little cliché.
But clichés become clichés for a reason.

This time of year is a powerful chance to reset habits, refocus priorities, & build momentum. Not by going extreme, but by getting consistent with the basics.

Goals make habits stick - goals give training (& nutrition) direction

Right now, we’ve got two powerful goals on the horizon:

  • Tough Mudder: end of January, with a Soul Rebel crew taking it on together

  • The CrossFit Open: starting February 26, a three-week global CrossFit event open to everyone

Here’s what we see time & time again:
Consistency is easier when you have something to train for, not just train because.

Whether it’s Tough Mudder, The Open, or simply wanting to feel fitter, stronger, & more capable, goals give daily habits context.

When training & nutrition have a clear purpose:

  • You fuel sessions instead of skipping meals

  • You recover better because tomorrow’s training matters

  • You’re more likely to stay consistent, even when motivation dips

Why talk about nutrition now?
Because the next 4–8 weeks are where habits compound — especially nutrition. Dialling this in now means:

  • Better energy

  • Better recovery

  • Better performance when it counts

Whether you’re lining up for Tough Mudder, gearing up for The Open, or simply using them as motivation, having a clear goal makes the day to day habits easier to stick to.

January's focus: We’re rolling into the new year using the Jidlo app to support your nutrition tracking.

A quick note here:
Some members have found tracking tricky in the past & that’s okay. Tracking is a skill, not a personality trait.

Jidlo is a fantastic tool when it’s used well, & it gives you & your coaches:

  • Clarity (what’s actually going in?)

  • Consistency (patterns over perfection)

  • Better coaching conversations (real data, not guesses)

✅ Pick ONE Starting Point

You do not need to track everything.

Choose one:

  • Track protein only

  • Track main meals only

  • Track training days only

👉 Not sure where to start? Protein is the best default.

✅ Protein Sets the Foundation

If you track protein, you’re already doing the most important thing.

Protein supports:

  • Recovery

  • Strength & lean muscle

  • Body composition

  • Appetite control

You can layer in carbs & fats later. Protein comes first.

✅ Use Carbs to Fuel Training

Carbs work best around training.

  • Before → energy

  • After → recovery

No need to avoid them. You train hard, carbs help you train & recover well.

✅ Log What Actually Happens

Track what you eat, not what you planned to eat.

Miss a meal? No stress.
Miss a day? Pick it back up tomorrow.

Real data beats perfect data.

✅ Look for Patterns, Not Perfection

We care about:

  • Consistency over weeks

  • Habits, not single days

  • Trends that support training & life

One “off” day means nothing 💚
