Spring Reset – Simple Changes for the Season
As the weather warms up and training energy lifts, it’s the perfect time to make some simple nutrition tweaks. Winter often means heavier meals, comfort foods, and a bit more hibernation mode. Spring is all about lighter, fresher choices that fuel your CrossFit training and recovery.
winter to spring: easy shifts
1. Warm & Heavy ➝ Fresh & Colourful
Winter often means casseroles, curries, and roasts.
Swap to grilled proteins + colourful salads or roasted veg with fresh herbs.
The more colour on your plate, the better your recovery and energy.
2. Hot Drinks on Repeat ➝ Hydration First
Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate add up fast in winter.
With spring, aim for 2–3L of water daily, and add electrolytes on hot or sweaty training days.
Try starting your morning with water before coffee to reset the habit.
3. Comfort Snacks ➝ Purposeful Fuel
Extra biscuits or late-night snacks are common in colder months.
This season, focus on nutrient-dense snacks first (fruit, yoghurt, nuts) and combine them with fun foods if you want them (like pairing apple slices with a few squares of chocolate).
You’ll feel fuller, longer—and less likely to overdo it.
why these changes matter for training
Your body thrives on consistency. By shifting to lighter, more nutrient-dense foods and staying hydrated, you’ll notice:
